After a night long of coughing and running fever.. we HAD to get out of the house. Brayden's fever broke bright and early and he was running around like a crazy kid again.. still with a little cough, but no fever.. thank God..
We had planned on doing this yesterday but the weather was so yucky out, we didn't get the chance to... these were taken at a small park near our house.. turned out pretty perfect for a wooded looking area for some great "Max" pictures.
The story behind the costume..
Brayden already loved the book "Where the Wild Things Are", so when the movie came out, he and I went and saw it and he became obsessed with having "Max-Wolf-Wild-Thing-Pajamas."
So.. I started searching the internet for a "Max" costume.. only finding a few handmade ones for some pretty crazy and outrageous prices... so I passed on those and started looking for a solid white footed pajama... ha. Not possible either.
So my only other option was to make it myself. Off to the fabric store I went. I have never created anything wearable, much less a bodysuit and a hood.. so I went searching through patterns and found one that was originally for another type of costume and I altered it.. alot.. as I went along. I had to take it in several inches because even though the pattern said it was a 3-4.... it definitely wasn't suitable for BB.
I added the buttons on front to match Max's pajamas and created cuffs on the bottom for a more finished look than the elastic that the pattern called for. I also added some little wolf claws.. that BB insisted he must absolutely have. The tail is a fake piece of fur that was originally a detachable piece of a collar on one of Trav's coats. He won't miss it ;)

The body piece really wasn't all that difficult other than getting the sizing right... It was that hood that was a pain.. lol. It seriously took longer than the onesie. The crown is also handmade.. mad with some different shaped chipboard triangles covered in batting and gold fabric.. He also has a ceptor that I made from a wooden dowel rod and some styrofoam balls... I just haven't spray painted gold yet.. BB didn't let that stop him.. he found a stick and started ordering me around. lol. he's a wild thing.

cute little wolf whiskers..
and the last one... prob my favorite from the day..
